2077

Given the problems Xbox One and PS4 gamers have experienced with Cyberpunk 2077, the chances of a native Nintendo Switch release fall somewhere between slim and none.

Cyberpunk

We all have heard of Cyberpunk 2077 by now; the good, the bad, and the uncertain. It is a massive action role-playing game that was developed and published by CD Projekt, the makers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in Night City, an open world in the Cyberpunk universe. Your character is a mercenary viewed from a first-person perspective and is known as V.

A Nintendo YouTuber has uncovered a way to get Cyberpunk 2077 to play on Switch. Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch version release date Kevin Tucker Wednesday, December 09, 2020 Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest high-profile release to come out of developer CD Projekt Red.

It is quite a fascinating game and is probably going to be remembered as the game of the decade. Yes, it has its bugs but this is a massive game and that is expected and will be gradually improved with updates. Still, the game delivers a fascinating story and a thrilling experience.

Now, let’s discuss the possibility of it coming to Nintendo Switch. CD Projekt has a past of bringing their big games to Nintendo Switch and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the best example. Bringing such a massive game to the Nintendo Switch is challenging, of course, but possible and it is considered to be one of the best ports on the Switch.

According to Nintendo Life, John Mamais who is Game Producer at CD Projekt did say, ”Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we `decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.” So it is not out of the question that it might come sometime in the future but not necessarily anytime soon.

In a new interview with ONMSFT, John Mamais was asked if Cyberpunk 2077 would be coming to Nintendo Switch. He answered that, ”Not as far as I know. Not yet. I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it. But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.” He does admit that it would be too heavy but adds that so was The Witcher 3 and they did manage to port it to the Switch.

We can see that the possibility of Cyberpunk 2077 is not out of the question for Nintendo Switch but perhaps wouldn’t be coming within the next 2 years. In addition, we have seen heavy games come to the Switch but in cloud versions such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Release

Finally, Cyberpunk 2077 may be ported to the Switch while downgrading its graphics, or even bringing it in cloud version as other developers have done. Either way, there is a possibility for the futuristic game to make its way to the handheld device. We will update you if and when we learn anything about this story. Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch Release

CD Projekt Red has confirmed its upcoming sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will 'probably not' be coming to Nintendo Switch.

Cyberpunk 2077 On Nintendo Switch

In a wide-ranging interview with Gamespot, CD Projekt Red's John Mamais said that while the team hadn't even considered a game like the Witcher 3 'would be possible on Switch', it was unlikely it's upcoming RPG would also port over to Nintendo Switch.

'Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows?' Mamais said. 'I guess we'll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.'

Mamais also opened up on his views about microtransactions and whether or not the studio's generous DLC program for The Witcher 3 might be replicated for Cyberpunk 2077.

'I think it's a bad idea to do microtransactions after you release a game,' he said. 'It seems like it's very profitable, though. It's probably a hard decision for the guy that runs the business to decide if we should do it or not. But if everyone hates it, why would we do something like that and lose the goodwill of our customers?

'[The Witcher 3's free DLC with big paid expansions] was a good model for us; it worked pretty well for The Witcher 3,' he added, talking about other forms of downloadable content. 'I don't see why we wouldn't try to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077. We're not talking about that yet, but it seems like that would be the smart way to go.'

'What excites us about this port is just how challenging it is for the Switch hardware on just about every level: its CPU and memory bandwidth requirements push the current-gen consoles - and unlike the Doom and Wolfenstein conversions, Saber Interactive couldn't drop frame-rate from 60fps to 30fps,' Digital Foundry said, comparing The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch to PlayStation 4 back in June.

'Instead, it has to target the exact same performance level as PS4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the RED Engine doesn't exactly take it easy on the GPU either; we have some idea of the cuts here, but just how much harder will Saber have to push to get areas like Novigrad and Crookback Bog operational on Switch? Add all of that to the task of reducing the game's storage footprint almost by half and you have what must surely be one of the most ambitious game conversions of this console generation. Suffice to say that we'll be following this one with plenty of interest.'
