MotionComposer

MotionComposer helps to make a user's life easier when it comes to Web animations and interactivity. Creating banner ads, interactivity for the Web, and any kind of animation is effortless and fun. The best part is that you don't need any coding experience to use MotionComposer 1.6. As most of you know, the idea behind MotionComposer is unique and can be a huge support and source of joy and inspiration to many people. However, the technology behind it is complex and the task of making the MotionComposer so intuitive and user-friendly that EVERYONE can use it according to their skills and needs is a huge challenge for us. MotionComposer was created by Aquafadas with the aim of bringing 'cost-effective and time-saving software to the digital video community.' Aquafadas has offices in Paris and Montpelier France and in New York City. With this program you can create animations in both the Flash and HTML5 format at the same time for tablets, smartphones, and the web. The MotionComposer is a device that turns movement into music. It is being developed so that anyone, regardless of their abilities, can express themselves through movement and music. The offical website is here: www.motioncomposer.org. The project began in 2010 as a spin-off from the Palindrome Dance Company.

The blog posts of this section relate to the course MCT4031 Applied MCT Project 1 and MCT4032 Applied MCT Project 2. The aim of the course is to carry out a music technological project in a real-world setting and with external stakeholders The problem at hand may be of a non-musical nature, but have a societal or industrial impact, requiring to apply music technological knowledge in new and creative ways.

  • Sound Design for IMTEL

For the applied project 2, we worked on enhancing the sound components of a VR language learning application in Unity

  • Expanding Collaboration in Pedál

For our external partner, Pedál, we wanted to document and expand how multi-user interactions took place.

  • Algorytme

A proposed application for generating personalized playlists based on emotional state.

  • NTNU Oceans

An immersive installation on mercury pollution in the ocean. The aim of this project is to conceptualize and implement an installation in which visitors can interactively “see” and “hear” the status of oceans and seas worldwide.

  • Soundscapes for Dream Nest

For the spring applied project we created music for a hardware specific device to relax colicy babies in a collaboration with our external partner, Dream Nest. Our final product is a six track EP, engineered to put your baby to sleep (we hope!)

  • MotionComposer

MotionComposer is a motion capture device that lets people make music with gestures. This is the presentation of our applied project, where we worked on building a new instrument for this device.

  • Trippi BySykkel Sounds

Portray city bike user data into a sonified, interactive display by making use of public space and public data.’

  • Tree as Speakers

A project in collaboration with ÅF engineering. The goal of the project was to create a non-intrusive soundscape and/or noise-masking installations in an outdoor public space by using trees as speakers, installing audio exciters on trees.

  • Picture Carmen

Promotional video for a new chamber production of the Opera ‘Carmen’

  • Seismerssion: Retrospectives on an Audio-visual installations

Seismerssion is the title we gave our Applied Project in the context of the MCT spring semester 2019. This audio-visual installation is dedicated to the widely unknown issue of sound pollution in the ocean. In collaboration with NTNU Oceans, an intership was established to develop and implement a public installation concept for 2 different venues.

Aquafadas motioncomposer

Aquafadas has unveiled a new Mac application that lets developers more easily create website animations that can run simultaneously on both Flash-oriented desktop browsers and iOS devices that run HTML5.

MotionComposer, launched Wednesday, can be used to create animated slideshows and banners for both Flash and HTML5 formats in a single step. Users can create their animations within the program, which comes with a variety of text and video effects and features a user interface that Aquafadas says should feel intuitive to users of Microsoft’s PowerPoint and Apple’s Keynote presentation programs.

After the animation is complete, MotionComposer spits out a hybrid code to include on the website. Those sites will default to running the animation in Flash, but will fall back to HTML5 when the target browser and operating systems don’t support the Adobe program—most notably on the iPhone and iPad. The developer says the graphics should be identical across platforms. (See this video for a demonstration.)

Motion Composer

MotionComposer is compatible with Macs running OS X 10.6.8 or later. The program costs $149 and is available via Aquafadas’s website.
