The app announcement follows the launch of a unified Microsoft Office app for iPhone and Android in February. Previously, the Office apps were available individually, and they still arefor iPad and iPhone.

The app is rolling out and should be available to everyone over the coming days. The new app for ‌iPad‌ is free and compatible with iPad Air, ‌iPad‌ and iPad mini users.

iPad users can use the app to take a picture of a document and turn it into a Word file, as well as snap a picture of a table and turn it into an editable Excel spreadsheet. Users can create a PowerPoint presentation from images stored in the device's camera roll.
