Notifications sent to your iPhone can often be important, like a text message, stock price alert, or a notification from any other app that isn’t available on Mac OS X. During times that we’re busy working on our Macs, it can be very distracting to constantly look down at your iPhone for new notifications. Notifyr is an iPhone and Mac OS X app that sends iOS notifications to your Mac, helping you stay focused without missing any of the latest alerts.
Notifyr leverages Bluetooth Low Energy to create a connection between your iPhone, and your Mac. Thanks to Bluetooth Low Energy, battery consumption on both of your devices remains minimal, and is only used when your iPhone and your Mac are in vicinity of each other.
To setup Notifyr, you’ll need to download the iOS app, and the Mac OS X app from their respective app stores. The iOS app is priced at $3.99, while the Mac OS X app is free. Once Bluetooth is enabled on both devices, and the apps are downloaded and opened, Notifyr will immediately create a link between your Mac, and your iPhone. The Notifyr app never needs to be opened again, and can reconnect your devices from the background automatically.
When configured properly, all of the notifications from your iOS apps will also appear on your Mac. The developer behind Notifyr also included a mute feature on your Mac, so you can choose which apps should send notifications, and which shouldn’t.
Because Notifyr works with Bluetooth Low Energy (only available on newer devices), it’s only compatible with some of the newest Apple devices. See the full list below:
